Our Pastoral Plan

The Pastoral Plan of the Archdiocese of Sydney was launched on 11 November 2007 and outlines the mission, priorities, goals and strategies of the Archdiocese for the period from 2008 - 2011.

“As the Church entered the third millennium Pope John Paul II issued an Apostolic Letter, Novo millennio ineunte, calling for a pastoral plan for the Church as it enters a new era. The Pope urged all Catholics to "start afresh with Christ". He called for "new pastoral initiatives", which are to be"adapted to the circumstances of each community". It is this invitation of the Pope that inspired the clergy of the Archdiocese of Sydney at the Clergy Forum in 2003 to propose to me the formulation of a pastoral plan. Thus the Archdiocese has undertaken to develop a plan that seeks to coordinate all the various agencies, parishes, groups and individuals within this rich and complex ecclesial structure….”
