Catholic Weekly

The Catholic Weekly is the weekly Catholic newspaper for the Archdiocese of Sydney. 24-32 four-colour pages, distributed to 500 parishes in NSW and interstate. Publishes news, features and comments on current issues important to Catholics.

The Catholic Weekly continues a tradition of weekly Catholic Newspapers in Sydney which dates back to 1839:
• 3 August 1839 – The Australasian Chronicle launched.
• 27 June 1850 – Freeman’s Journal launched.
• 9 November 1895 – Catholic Press launched.
• 5 March 1942 – The Catholic Weekly launched, as an amalgamation of Freeman’s Journal and the Catholic Press.
• 11 September 2003 – The Catholic Weekly re-launched.
