Association for Acolytes and Altar Servers organises conferences, camps, masses etc for lay ministers of the altar. Provides guild medals, certificates. Its purpose:

1) to encourage, positively and practically, the highest standards of serving at the Church’s Liturgy and so contribute to the whole community’s participation in a more fruitful worship of God;

2) to provide servers with a greater understanding of what they are doing so that they may serve in an increasingly reverent and prayerful manner and thereby be led to a deepening response to their vocation in life;

3) to unite servers of different parishes and dioceses for their mutual support and encouragement; and,

4) to foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life by building up the prayer life of those who serve at the altar.

The Guild is affiliated to the Archconfraternity of Saint Stephen which was established at Westminister Cathedral, U.K., in 1905 by the authority of Pope Pius X. As such, it has available to its members the rich history of papal benedictions, plenary and partial indulgences.

This organisation is not a service of the Archdiocese of Sydney. Please direct any query to the organisation directly.
