University Chaplaincies

“Whether university is exciting or daunting, the Catholic Chaplaincies are here to accompany you on your journey. They exist to help you grow your faith, to meet others and form strong friendships, to face trials with confidence and be equipped intellectually and spiritually to bear witness to Christ. I pray that your time of study will be a period of personal spiritual growth, a time in which you learn, grow in wisdom and virtue, make lasting friends and come to know the God of Wisdom and Love more profoundly.” Most Rev. Anthony Fisher OP, DD BA LlB BTheol DPhil, Archbishop of Sydney

The Archdiocese of Sydney's Catholic Chaplaincies develop the Catholic faith and life among University of Sydney, University of Technology, University of NSW, University of Notre Dame Sydney, and Macquarie University students (as well as their staff), through an unambiguous call to faith and repentance through the announcement of Jesus Christ the unique saviour of the world and of the Catholic Church as His holy bride.

Its mission is to seek to help the students grow in holiness through the following four stages: evangelisation, catechesis, sacraments and service.

The Chaplaincies engages with the different aspects of the life of the universities, and their various groups, through reason and dialogue to promote the development of a Catholic culture on campus. It works towards the authentic human development of the students in all their diversity as well as promoting and nurturing a profound intellectual Catholic life.
