Millions Raised for Project Compassion during Lenten Season

Catholic Communications, Sydney Archdiocese,
2 Aug 2016

Project Compassion (Caritas Australia's annual fundraising and awareness-raising appeal) contacted the Archdiocese of Sydney to say a huge thank you to all the generous supporters who participated in donating to the work of Project Compassion during the season of Lent.

Project compassion, which runs through the six weeks of Lent raises funds to help the world's poorest communities.
This year's theme was "Learning more, creating change". As Pope Francis says "Education is an act of hope", so Project Compassion celebrates the power of learning, and the many ways in which Caritas Australia is working with local partners around the world to provide vital learning and renewed hope to children, women and men most vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice.

Throughout Project Compassion 2016, we heard of inspiring stories from Malawi, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Cambodia and India. You can read more about the stories of hope here

The Archdiocese of Sydney during Project Compassion raised approximately $1,762,339.

Our incredibly generous supporters have raised over $11 million for Project Compassion 2016!
