Pope Met With Enthusiasm in Spain

Pope Benedict's plane landed in Spain at Santiago de Compostela under foggy conidtions. However, the bad weather did not dampen the party.

He was received at the foot of the ladder by the prince and princess of Asturias, Felipe and Letizia, while the hymns of Spain and the Vatican played.

Before a shy and visibly moved Pope, the heir to the Spanish crown thanked him for his closeness to their country.

"The Spanish people really feel very honored that during the first five years of your Pontificate you have visited Spain twice. In addition to your trip in August of next year 2011, we will again have the honor to welcome you to Madrid to celebrate the World Youth Day."

"I feel a deep joy to be back in Spain, which has given the world a galaxy of great saints, founders and poets, such as Ignatius of Loyola, Teresa of Avila, Juan de la Cruz, Francisco Javier, and many more."

In his first speech in Spain, the Pope asked the West to not only addresses the physical needs of man but also the moral, spiritual and religious.
