Charity & Giving

Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, you do unto me.

Matthew 25:40

The Archdiocese of Sydney is involved in many different works within Sydney to provide services, care and support to people in need. We have divided the works of the Church in Sydney into 7 broad categories:

The Archdiocese is committed in providing the necessary services and support for the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities through its various charitable works and activities.

The charitable and pastoral works of the Archdiocese are undertaken by the following archdiocesan charities:

Charitable Works Fund - a centralised fund that supports the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, CatholicCare, Catholic Chaplaincy Services, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine - Sydney (CCD), and the Ephpheta Centre.

Priests' Retirement Foundation - Established in 2007 to support the retired priests of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, the foundation provides healthcare, accommodation and financial support for retiring Archdiocesan clergy.

St Mary's Cathedral is our Cathedral - the spiritual home of Sydney's Catholic community. Our constant care is to preserve this heritage. Conservation work began in 1995 and this huge task of conserving St Mary's will continue well into the future.

You can help the works of the charities of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney by making a donation or leaving a bequest.

Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
